Piping can be intimidating, but it’s totally easy if you remember a few rules:
- Make a cuff at the top of the bag before loading in your icing. This makes it easier (and neater) to reload. Also, the cuff gives you a way to hang on to the bag when filling.
- Never fill the bag more than half-full. If you do, you’re just asking for trouble. It usually oozes out the top when it’s too full.
- Twist the bag closed, hold it at the twist between your thumb and index finger and squeeze. Never squeeze with the other hand in the middle of the bag -only from the top at the twist. The other hand is only for control. Again, if you squeeze from the middle, you’re asking for trouble.
